i wish to spend between £100 and <£200. on a scanner that can handle
transparencies well. Im a HP fan but there doesn't seem to be a suitable
scanner. I'm considering the canon 8400 and epson 4180. does anyone out
there have a view on which is best
thanks judy

In my experience nothing beats a dedicated transparency scanner. If you
already have a flatbed, why not look for a decent second hand dedicated
model.

When my old film scanner bit the dust, I tried using a flatbed - an HP - that
has a transparency adaptor. It did a terrible job. I ended up buying a
Konica Minolta Dimage IV film/slide scanner, and I get incredibly good scans.
I like the fact that it removes most of the dust on my 30+ year old slides.
