Hello folks,

I wanted to get some advice with which card would be more suitable.
I've narrowed it down to two cards, however suggestions in here will
be highly considered.

I am looking at

Intel RAID Controller SRCS14L Storage controller

or

Promise FastTrak S150 SX4

If you look at the specs in www.cdw.com

The Intel controller provides up to 64MB in cache size, where the
promise is a little beefier with 256MB. However, the Data transfer
rate on the intel goes up to 1.5 GBps where the promise falls a way
below at 150Mbps.

The Raid controller is going to used as a component in a Web Server
that will serve archived phone call recordings.

The machine is probably going to be a:

2.8 GHZ P4 uniprocessor with 1GB of RAM Running Windows XP
Professional.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil Buendia

Given the choice, the Intel for sure. Difference between an SUV and a
diesel truck.

Just a guess, but may this be 1.5Gbps and 150MBps? In this case
transfer rates are about the same. Otherwise the Intel would
be about 100 times faster, which I do not believe it can be.
