Which program to use?

Hi people

I will be doing a moderate sized report soon (about 20-40 pages A4) which
will have loads of spreadsheets, some photos as well as some text.

I'm trying to decide which program would be the best to use.

Last time I did it using Word XP, and linked the spreadsheet files into it
(each spreadsheet was a separate file, and there were about 15 of them). But
I had a *lot* of problems with the linked files, they appeared at odd aspect
ratios (even with the 'lock aspect ratio' set) and sometimes they printed
out incorrectly (fonts at the wrong size and spacing, and the letters over
printing each other).

I was so sick of all the problems I thought I would use Excel this time but
there is an amount of plain text pages that will make this awkward.

My other choice is MS Publisher. I dont have pagemaker or anything like
that.

I want to do this project in one complete document, not in different
programs.

Thanks

Mark A.

If you copy the portion of the spreadsheet that you want to display to the
clipboard then in Word - edit > paste special (html format) as a link, the
spreadsheet will be placed in Word in exactly the same format as it appears
in the spreadsheet(s).
The only problems you are likely to have with this approach is if the
spreadsheet is too large to fit the Word page, where it should be cropped
rather than resized.
