Hi,
I have been trying to network a PC with windows 98SE (mine) and a PC with
XP Home (my wife's), both machines show in the network but the XP could
not access the 98SE after some considerable problems I managed, by
disableing the firewall on the 98 machine, get the XP to see the shared
files and printer on the 98SE machine and it can print a test page on the
printer through the 98 machine, but if I try to access the shared files I
get a dialogue box asking for a password, the user name Gerald\Guest is
greyed out. How do I find out what the password is or how can I overcome
the password request.

Thanks
Gerald

Run the Network Setup Wizard on XP Home to fully enable file sharing.
That usually makes the password prompt go away:

XP ICS - Starting the Network Setup Wizard

If you've defined a password for the Guest account on XP, enter that
password at the prompt.
