I have 60 processes running, a lesser spec PC and no problems with "performance" as you put it.

I can't "see" any I don't need ... but I do hate the way I have to have the Logitec mouse software loaded just to inform me when the batts are dieing.

What "crap" do you have loading ... MSN? Printer? Scanner?

I really think people better understand what "processes" are before blaming them on MS ... uninstall crap software.

On here (An HP 2.6ghz) I have 36 various processes running, and they don't affect performance at all. I even have WCG running as well while a game is windowed and it still runs fine.

On your spec those processes will do precisely squat.

I'd agree with what the other guys are saying - don't worry about it.

I have 52 processes running in my XP Pro SP2 install and my machine flies :)

If you really want to stop a few go to run >> msconfig >> enter >> startup then uncheck those you don't think you need running at Startup. Be careful though.
