Hi' everyone,
Would some kind person please advise me about which printer to buy. I have
only been using a computer and printer etc for less than a year on and off
due to illness. However. the printer that I have seems to have died. It is
a Canon s400sp. The troubleshooting book says that if the light flashes
orange six times then the print head needs replacing. There is plenty of
ink.
I've hardly used the printer. Now it's out of warranty and I'm told that
with this one the print head is not guaranteed anyway.
I have phoned the local store (in Australia) and when I ask them they say it
depends on what you want a printer for. I want to print documents and the
odd photo, but I'm not really into photo's yet, I may do so in the future.
Finances are a bit of a problem, to replace this print head is $110. and
I'm told it may only last for 6 months to a year. I think it's best to buy
another printer. There is one for $82, sounds cheap and nasty, s200spx, but
there is another one that might be o.k. i350 Canon. $150.00 or a little more
depending on where I buy it.
I want one that is not too expensive to fill with ink. I had a look at the
Canon web site and it says there that this one has an XP driver. I have
windows 98. I'm assuming this one won't be any good.
Would you please help ,me.
thank you,
Joanie.

Sorry to hear you've been ill; hopefully you're better now. The Canon S200
is a really low-end printer. If you won't need it often and quality isn't
of great concern, it'll do the job. I have the Canon i320 on a second
computer and although it says "Designed for WindowsXP" it's running just
fine under Windows 98.

Hope you're feeling better, and good luck in your quest for a new printer :)

If you only use a printer every now and then, as I have a Canon and 2 HP
printers, as I think that these are the best Make, but it seems that the HP
would be the one I would go for, but if you use it for photo's and you do a
lot of printing then go for the Canon as this will be cheaper in inks, the
HP has the print heads and ink on the same cartridge so if it does dry up
you just get a new cartridge.

Thank you so much for your help. I will go for the i350 then if it doesn't
matter about the driver.
I am feeling better thank you, I'm in between treatments, so this is a good
time for me.
Thank you very much.
Joanie.
