I have a pentium 4 processor 560j with hyper threading technology, processor
speed is 3.60ghz.

P4/HT is a 64bit cpu, so you can choose from both editions.

only 32bit cpus are limited to 32bit os.

you are incorrect.

CPU genuine intel Pentium 4
clock 3600MHz
Socket 775 PLGA
800 Mhz FSB
2nd level cache 1024KB
EM64T

notice the last line. it runs XP x64 / windows 2003 and vista x64.

Some cheap servers are using these cpus.

To the question of 'need' -- I'd suggest 32 bit Vista at this point --
less driver support issues. The payoff with 64 bit vista will be when
the driver support is more solid (which will happen), and folks have
systems with 4G of RAM (which probably will happen), and applications
are written to take advantage of the combined 64 bit CPU and OS.

well..

shame on intel for their product lineup and the names and numbers then.

I once had a very rare AMD cpu that never appeared on official sites.

It took me days to find out what these thing really was.

cpu-z was helpful.

Intel has also a chipset identifier tool that will reveal most of the
builtin "truth"...
