Which is it?

I don't know which program it is that's driving me nuts. A movie saved this
evening as a .wmv (high quality) won't play in WMP, says it's not a recognized
format. Essentially the same movie made two weeks ago and also saved as a .wmv
(high quality) plays just fine. Realplayer recognizes both videos. Ran the
unrecognized through WinAVI as a .wmv, and it's still not recognized.

What could have changed to make a WMM produced video not play in WMP

Which version of WMP are you using and what settings for the wmv did you
choose?
WMP 10.00.00.4036, video made using WMM 2.1.4026.0 as High Quality video (NTSC).

Can you try playing the new WMV in another Media Player if you have one?
This way the problem can be narrowed down to either WMP, a codec issue, or a
corrupt WMV video.

Plays fine in RealPlayer.

Plays fine on RealPlayer, and also on mplayer2. I finally got the .avi saved
file to play by disabling AC3filter.ax. Don't have any idea why that worked.
My wife swears that we built our house on an Indian burial ground; all kinds of
weird electrical/electronic problems over the years.<G>
