Which IPs to be used for a VPN?

I'm creating a VPN between two LANs; each of them uses a private IP range
(f.e. 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.2.0/24).
I need to assign IP addresses to the VPN interfaces in the two RRAS servers,
which are the two ends of the VPN connection... which IPs should I use?
Addresses from the first LAN, from the second one, from both of them or
totally different ones? I know it's a point-to-point connections, so this
issue shouldn't be of much concern, but what are the best practices for
this?
Thanks

Massimo

I would use a completely different subnet for this. Set the RRAS server
to allocate addresses from a static address pool in say 192.168.21.x . It
makes it easier to see what is happening when you look at the routing table.

Yes, this is exactly what I did (altough with two static IPs, since it's a
persistent site-to-site connection).
Thanks.
