Which File Format Should I save my home Video in?

I have captured My old analogue vid in high quality video (large). Firstly
is this the right format to capture analoge footage for the best quality
results. Secondly is the process below (saving as DV-AVI, even though its an
anologue source) what I should choose for best quality to burn onto a DVD. I
have read other messages that talk about mpeg 2 before burning to DVD. I am
using Sonic Burning software and nowhere does it give me the option of mpeg2.
How should i save my movie to get the best quality to play on my widescreen
tv.

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Si

File / Save Movie File / My Computer / Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location / Next /
Show More Choices / Other Settings / open
the drop window and choose...DV-AVI / Next /
wait while the movie is saved / Finish.

Try the High Quality Video (NTSC - or PAL option) for capturing.... it'll
align the pixel dimensions with what is used when saving to DV-AVI and
heading for the DVD.

DV-AVI is usually the best choice when saving the movie.... your Sonic DVD
software will convert it into the MPEG-2 files needed for the DVD.

Thanks very much PapaJohn much appreciated. The only options I can see
however are High Quality Video (Small) & (large). Not (NTSC - or PAL). I
have been capturing in Large. Is that the correct choice. If the is a
better option to use can I now change when I capture and mix the two.
Thanks,

Si

When capturing from analog sources, you don't have the DV-AVI option... but
you do when saving your edited movie, the right choice if heading to a disc
and using other DVD software....

Your choice is fine... unless you want a higher quality from a custom
profile... see the Saving Movies > Custom WMV Profiles page of my website. I
use a custom one with a bitrate at the 6000 kbps to 8000 level when
capturing analog.

I would love to have better quality from my anaologue vid but custom profiles
on your website look very complicarted. Would i really notice much
difference once i have burnt onto a DVD.

Many thanks
