Has anybody installed a quiet fan for AMD Athlon 64 3700+ ??
I'm looking at several, and I would like to use a flat fan instead
of one of the standup fans like the Artic Freezer 64 Pro. I don't
think that would fit my case, but not sure. I'm also looking at
the Artic Silencer 64 which is a flat fan. That would be nice if
it really works.

Just installed Zalman vf900 on my video card ( 7900gto ), and
idle temp dropped from 38 to 31, so I slowed the fan to silent
mode, and temp settled at 34. Nice. Very quiet. Now if I can
quieten the cpu fan, I'll run nearly silent.

I have just installed an Arctic Alpine 64 cooler
http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx=93&disc= on my Athlon 64 3000+.
Runs nice and cool - haven't seen it go over 37 deg C so far - even under
load using CPU Burn-in. As for noise, all I can say is that I didn't realise
the fan on my HIS 9600XT Turbo was so loud - I can actually hear it now over
the Alpine! I bought my Alpine from here
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/105995 for GBP £6.06 - I reckon that's
pretty good value for money and well worth a look for that sort of money.

Forgot to add, the temp above is with pre-applied thermal compound (Arctic
Cooling MX-1, I think) on standard heatsink as it comes out of the box.

Got it coming. Tech recommended the ACS64utc silencer. Says it
will cool about the same as the stock fan, but will be nearly silent
since it runs about 1000rpm - 2500rpm instead of 3500 stock.

I've just purchased the Zalman CNPS9500-LED FAN - excellent cpu fan
very low noise levels 18+ dbA - flashy blue led. It's very good - speed
/ noise level can be adjusted via the controller unit. It's compatible
with "Socket 478, Socket 754, Socket 940, Socket 775, Socket 939". Very
impressed with the website - it gives a full compatability listing in
terms of motherboards (due to the size of the fan) - www.zalmanusa.com
