I am seeing more of that sideways hard drive arraignment in those two
cases - what end of the drive goes where?
I still have my ancient Antec1080SX battleship case - one of my
favorite features is the one touch drive cage release, no taking off
two panels or undoing (and dropping!!) screws inside the box when
doing disk diddling.
The nice part about those side mounted hard drive rigs is that you can mount the
hard drives either way. In my Sonata I used flat cables and mounted the drives
with the pins to the mobo side. This really improves the airflow in that case.
In the SupeLanboy I used Antec Cobra cables and mounted the drives with the pins
to the clear panel side.
The Cobras are very flexible, for a round cable, and this works rather well but
I still may experiment by moving them to the mobo side for better airflow. The
downside of this is that, in the Sonata, when removing the drives you needed a
third hand because you almost have to slide both drives out at once to remove or
fasten the cables and power plugs. In the SL the mobo side panel can be removed
for better access so that wouldn't be a problem.
BTW, I also have two Chieftecs and they have the removable drive cages like the
Antec 1080. These are nice but they can be a pita if your video card is a
little long and you are using round cables.
Another real plus for the SLB is the layout of the case. If you believe the
dynamics of airflow in a case should be an intake at the lower front moving air
to an outake at the upper rear then this case is a dream come true. Because of
the close proximity of the rear 120 fan and the fan on my Antec TB 480 ps the
air flows right over the northbridge and the cpu.
Here is a link to some pics of the SLB build. If you look around you will also
find pics of the Sonata.
