I want a fanless option for my video card. Sapphire has the x1300 in a 256
or 512. And they have a pro version, but I think that is a fan design. Is
512 going to make a difference anywhere?

TIA

On a card that slow 512mb is pointless, and they often use slower
memory to make up for the cost of more RAM - look closely at the specs
and choose the fastest core/mem version - also check the memory
bandwidth. I don't know if they do it for the X1xxx cards, but they'd
often chop the memory bus in half to further cut costs and sucker you
in with the big memory number.

This is from a gaming perspective - there may be some 3D modelling app
where on-board memory is key.

What matter id the texel fill rate Ie: my x800 does 4.7gb/s and have a
memory bandwidth of 22gb/s Compare to my old x700pro with it's 3.5
texel fillrate the card would manage to run better COD2 because of the
extra memory 256mb 128bit vs the x800 128mb 256bit. the x700pro memory
bandwith was around 14gb/s and was performing as close as the x800 in
cod2. So for me i would go for the 512 mb one. just because in game it
can handle more color and help render each image per sec.

the x1300 series are compare to 9600 card from ati and the more mem
you have the better it is.

x1300 is the great suxor card.

128bit makes it useless with more than 128 mb.
Why ? Because 128bit is very slow. Its DX 9 now.
Why else ?? Because its most likely ddr I ram with 200 mhz,
the cheapest crap available. No, not Gddr 3 @ 600x2 mhz.

I guess they are not mentioning the memory speed anywhere,
until you PAID and FEEL THE PAIN.

Of course i may be all wrong, and mem speed is real 500 mhz,
but even then more than 128mb doesnt make sense.
