I have a S820 right now. Well it is getting the 7 orange blinking
light which indicates that it has a bad print head. I have already
tried soaking it in denatured alcohol. No luck.

Anyway I purchased it just over a year ago and luckly I purchased 1
year extended warrenty. I called Staples warrenty office and they are
sending out a gift check to replace the printer.

My problem is that Staples only has 3 Canon printers on there web site
and the best one is the i860 for $149. I would like to get the i960.
It looks to be much better. Does anyone know if Staples does carry
this printer or can get it?

I would like to get some info about these two printers. I mostly
print out graphics and a photo here and there.

Another reason to go with these printers is I still have some full
cartridges from my S820 which is BCI-6 and would like to get one that
takes the same.

Thanks,
Debbie

I'm very happy with my i860, but then I don't have an i960 to compare
it to. I've seen at least one comment that it outperforms the i950.
The i860 uses the following cartridges:

BCI-6BK
BCI-6Y
BCI-6M
BCI-6C
BCI-3eBk

So I would take it that the i860 does not use the BCI-6PM and BCI-6PC
cartridges, correct?

I have seen the I960 on display in a local Staples store (Waterloo,
Ontario, Canada) recently. Don't know where you are located, but I'd
be awfully surprised if Staples in Canada carried a bigger selection
of printers than they do in the US.

I believe seven blinking lights does not mean your print head is
clogged, but that the reservoir tank inside-underneath- is filled and
needs to be cleaned.

Right out of the manual -- 5 cartridges:

BCI-6BK (photo black)
BCI-6Y
BCI-6M
BCI-6C
BCI-3eBk (black text)

Thanks, I was not sure if it was the print head or the waste tank. My
husband works with cleaning stuff and spent an hour cleaning the print
heads out with Methenol today. After putting them back in it printed
better then before and then It started getting the blinking again so I
tried cleaning and drying out the foam padding at the bottom. I found
one that was about 1"x1"x1". One long piece that was about 1/2"x9"
and one very thin heaver pad that was 1"x1". I cleaned them all. No
luck still getting the blinking. Did I do it wrong?

Thanks,
Debbie

not sure about your description of the sponge, but on the bjc 8200,
there were three large sponge pieces underneath the printer mechanism
that required disassembly of the printer to get to.
