I'm interested in purchasing an analog converter. My
problem is, there are so many out there, I don't know
which one to buy. I want to convert analog vhs home movies
to dvd and be able to edit them if I need to. Can anyone
let me know what has given you the most satisfation? My
computer has the dvd burner so all I need is the analog
convertor. Please give me some advice. Thanks! Kathy

Hi there,

I'm doing the same thing and I've had good luck with this:

http://canopus.com/US/products/advc-100/pt_advc-100.asp

scroll to the bottom to see the animated diagram of its
capabilities -- briefly, you get a fire-wire (IEEE-1394)
PC-connected device with a bi-directional conversion
capability via RCA, SVHS, or, DV jacks... I have not yet
tried "outputting" from the PC to a VCR or camera, but
the "inputting" seems to work just fine, so far.
