Hello,

Have been looking for a 5.1 speaker set, but can't decide which one to buy.
I would like to have:
- a remote control (i prefer wireless)
- a few inputs (pc, dvd, ...)

Budget: about 150 ? (~150 $), maybe 200 if it is really worth it.

I have been looking to the Creative inspire T5400, but this one does not
have the possibility for more inputs like dvd, ... (correct me if i'm wrong)
and has a wired remote. I have also been looking to the Phillips A5.600...
this one looks pretty interesting, 3 inputs, wireless remote,...
But, i have heard that the center speaker in a 5.1 set must have more power
than the others, this should be important for dialogues in movies.

Any sugestions? other speakersets?

Thx
Greetings

Some more info: the set has to fill my room with sound :-) my room is about
4 meters on 3 meters.

Check your local newspapers and see what you can get for that
budget in a regular home theater speaker set, instead of a "PC"
set.... just make sure the speakers are shielded if they'll be
close to the monitor.

Have you check out Altec Lansing speakers?
They are goods.

Just did, the 5100 set looks nice, has a remote (not wireless), has multiple
connection possibilities...

Does anyone know how much power u must have for a room 3 by 4 meters?

It depends on how loud you want it. Seriously, that's it. You
could run a 5.1 setup from 2-4 watts and have it perfectly
adequate for casual listening at low volumes, 10W would be plenty
for most uses and medium volume, but quickly 40W+ is necessary
for higher volume and accurate bass.

Thx for the replies,

Got myself crazy about this one: Logitech Z5300
Power enough, remote (not wireless), THX-certified,...

Have read a lot of reviews about this one, almost al of them are very
positive
Probably a bit of Overkill for my little room, but in a few years i'm out of
here so it wil look nice in my living room ;-)

Visit your local Car Radio and HiFi warehouse.
You should be able to find something better,
there are many 5.1 systems out there that are cheap.
Most have remotes with a lot of functions and inputs.
Look for something with a fibre link input, most decent
low range systems have one.
I suggest to take in your own CD/DVD, and listen to hear
what speakers sounds better. Sound quality shall be the
deciding factor. :)

I want to conect them to my computer in first place.
