where's the audio

How do I find or access the audio portion of some video
I've imported from my VCR? The video comes through find
but there doesn't seem to be any audio.
 
How did you connect the two?
Did you connect an audio cable from the vcr to the pc sound card?

Frodog,

Yours will be a different problem, as the firewire cable will take both
audio and video signals, where with analogue it is sent via separate cables.
It is odd that it works with wmv and not dv-avi, which gives the best
results - generally :)
Have a look at www.papajohn.org in problem solving, to see if there are any
hints. Have you chacked you have up to date things like directX etc.

via firewire (4 pin to 4 pin, if that makes any difference). When i choose
any of the capture quality options that svae it as a "wmv" file, i have no
problems. Video and audio come through fine. But when i choose the highest
quality option which saves it as an "avi" file, only the video comes
through, no audio. what is the problem? anyone?
