Where's it gone!

Hi I wondered if anyone can help. I have just installed a third stick of 512ram on my computer which is showing up in system Information, however I seem to have lost a huge amount of memory acording to Norton System Works. On first boot I was showing up the following: Total Physical= 1536mb Total Windows= 3144mb Free=2973mb Used=171mb. When I rebooted my machine a few minutes later I had the following in Norton: Total Physical=1536mb Total Windows= 584mb Free=365mb Used=219mb Selection=0 . Where could my memory have gone and how can I get it back please!. I am quite new to computing so any help would be really appreciated. I am running n Athlon XP 3 gig with two hard drives one of 120gig and one of 160gig.Many thanks!
 
Right-click on MY COMPUTER and select Properties.
The properties window indicates the amount of RAM
installed. If Norton SystemWorks reports a different
amount of RAM, then contact Symantec support and
ask why their program is mis-reporting the amount of
RAM installed.

You might want to dump Norton System Works..
