Start the Command Prompt in C:\>

Right click the Desktop | New | Shortcut |
Paste this in the location box:

%SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe

Click Next | Click Finish |

Right click the new cmd.exe shortcut | Properties |
In the Start in box replace %windir% with C:\ |
Apply | OK

You can also change the Start in for the cmd shortcut located under
Accessories on the Start Menu.

Outlook Express Save As Folder

In the preview pane, click the paper clip icon in the message header, click
the file name and then click Save attachment.

In the Save Attachments window click the Browse button to navigate to the
folder you want.

OE will remember this location. Unless you use something like MRUBlaster
which deletes this location. Also if you're running pre SP2 OE which has a
bug. This bug eats the last character of the path.

This is the work a round. The \\\'s get eaten instead of the last character
in the path. At least until it runs out of \\\\'s.

Start | Run | Type: regedit | OK

Navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{Your unique ID #}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\5.0
Name: Save Attachment Path
Type: REG_SZ
Data: (Mine) C:\Documents and Settings\WESLEY P.
VOGEL\Desktop\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
\\\\\\\\\\\

Hope this helps. Let us know.
