I am looking for a stockist in the UK who can supply print head replacements
for the Epson 440. If anyone has had experience with a good supplier then
please share the info with us all.

Thanks in advance

Terry

It will probably NOT be worth your while to replace the head of a 440,
which is Epson's low end printer. The head will be costly and replacing
it involves changing voltages in the firmware which requires a software
program not typically available to end users.

thanks for the feedback Arthur.... the 440 is destined for the landfill
then.
I had hoped to revive it, but as you say it involves twiddling with
voltages, then I could well be wasting my time.

It will probably NOT be worth your while to replace the head of a 440,
What makes you think the heads are U/S and not just in need of TLC.. I would
take a risk of dismantling the unit to remove the heads ( minus cartridges )
and leave the face ( nearest the paper surface) soaking in several layers of
kitchen towel soaked in print head fluid.
Very gentle wiping using just soggy kitchen towel soaked in fluid at times
during the long (24 hour) soak will help free any debris. Unfortunately you
can't tell if its fully recovered without fitting new cartidges.. Best of
luck

BTW, how do you know the head is dead, maybe it needs a good cleaning,
I can offer help for that in private mail.

Before removing the heads and cartridges, you might wish to email me, as
I can send you some helpful hints on Epson head clogs which might get
you back up and running.

The head is dead because it's in a lot of bits and the head has come apart
from the strip connecting to the circuit board... trust me... ITS DEAD!
I read an article that said if you remove this clip it will destroy the
head.
Well I did and it is.

Fair enough, your description certainly indicates a very dead head.
Sorry, I thought I may be able to help revive it, but not from that
state ;-)
