Hi,
I'm new here and can't find a newsgroup for Windows Embedded for Point of
Service, so I post in here.

I'm planning to buy a POS machines with Wind Emebedded Poin of Service
installed in it, and wondering whether I can install SQL applications and
WLAN USB devices or not?

Thanks for all the advice, apprecitate it.

Post it to the WePOS NG:

microsoft.public.windows.embedded.pointofservice

Martin, where exactly is this NG???
I've already tried to locate it in English> Original List, but can't find
PointOfService NG...
Could you please pin-point the location, thanks!

Hi Dhow

Main Site for WePOS is;

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/embedded/wepos/default.mspx

then find a list of all embedded NGs here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/community/community/newsgrp/default.aspx

(Last one is for WePOS)

There, you can open the WePOS NG also with a browser.
For a newsreader, use standard "msnews.microsoft.com" and
then search for "microsoft.public.windows.embedded.pointofservice"

Hi Dhow

This is because WePOS is a fixed function split out from
XP Emebdded. Here in this NG, we are talking abaout how
to put together a whole operating system.
WePOS, you can "only" insatll the OS like XP Pro.
So the development is totally different.

You mean that most of Windows XP Pro features and capabilities will be not
available in Win Embedded for POS machines?

mmhhh... of course the full API32 set will be available.
but some features will be left out...
There is also a nice collection of special POS drivers
available with WePOS. (Scanenrs, printers, displays....)
Also a 3rd party CD is included.
You can try to install WepOS by your own.
Download the Eval-Kit (or get it from a embedded
distributor) and play with it for 120 days.
