Where to insert temperature probes?

OK, please spare me the obvious response to that question.

I just got a new Antec case with 2 temperature probes which they
reccommend be attached to the motherboard and hard drive. They are
flat-clear-insulated-tip wires.

Exactly *how* and *where* are you supposed to attach them to the
motherboard and hard drive? And what is the desirable temperature
range?

I got the whiz-bang $128 antec aluminum case with every feature you
can imagine, and the frigging thing came with a sticky power switch.

Unreal. Of all the advancements Antec can put in a case, they cant
make a reliable power switch.

I stuck one probe in the heatsink for the cpu. Stuck it between the
fins, near the middle, towards the bottom. I fooled around with
different locations and that reads the hottest, ( maybe it's closest
to the CPU ). I haven't put in hard drives yet, so the other one I put
in the heatsink for the north bridge IC. CPU reads ~ 32C, northbridge
~ 30C. I don't know how to change my readout to F.
