but that would not give him ADDITIONAL USB ports.Palindr?me said:Not necessarily. The ebuyer item 45603 has a backplate to take the
cables to the internal bay and cables that then plug into other
backplate connections, externally.

That's great..Thanks 4 all the advice.
Ref do I have a spare header pins on mobo...not sure yet - have a new one
ordered - its a Asus A8N-E.
If I should go for a multi outlet one as apposed to just USB...eg
including card readers etc...anyone know
will I still need the same connection to the mobo?
Thanks

kind of "card reader". Many of them are not too expensive, and include a
couple of USB 2.0 ports. It would be kind of silly to fill a whole drive
bay for a couple USB ports. -Dave

It might come with a single USB cable designed to reach thru and connect
to a standard rear USB port and be considered as a two-port USB hub, or
the device could be configured with two USB ports that either goes into
one cable with enough conductors to be designed to plug into a typical MB
USB connector that contains two rows of pins, one row for each of two USB
ports. Or the device might even have two seperate cables, one for each
front USB port that each cable would connect to a row of pins in the MB
USB connector.
