I need to change some settings for a table in the Marker section but can not
find such a section. Can anyone help me?

PowerPoint's table tools are fairly rudimentary compared to those in, say,
Word. I'm not sure what you mean by the "Marker section," but if you tell us
what you're trying to change, we might be able to help.

I am taking a course in powerpoint. I am tring to modifing a table. In the in
the Format Data Series shortcut menu... 1st I am to change the line to the
thickest. (I did this) 2nd it tells me to "In the Marker section, change the
size to 15 points, and then change the forground and background colors of the
marker to yellow"

Ahhhhhhh, lightbulb. This sounds as if you're working with a chart, not a
table. (Charts do have a datasheet that looks rather like a floating
spreadsheet, but neither is the same as working with a table.)

So, you would right-click one of the lines (sounds like you're working with
a line chart) and choose Format Data Series.

The first tab is the Patterns tab. This is where you change the line to the
thickest. To the right of that (still on the Patterns tab) is the Marker
section. This controls the little data points on the line -- squares,
circles, diamonds, what have you. The instructions are asking you to
increase the size of that marker and change it to yellow.

If you haven't changed the chart type to a line chart, this is why you're
not seeing the Marker section. In that case, right-click the chart and
choose Chart Type, then choose Line to change to a line graph. You can also
do this by choosing Chart from the menu and then selecting Chart Type.

Does that get you situated?
