Hi, im just wondering where people would recommend to look for a laptop. I've read about a lot of bad experiences with retailers, but very few good comments.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.
They all seem a little expensive, or maybe i'm hoping for too much for my money lol.

You are.

Laptops right now are cheaper than they've ever been.

There's a recession on, suppliers are keen for sales.

Add to that, many components such as memory are very cheap at the moment, it's a good time to buy.

If you want something cheaper I suggest the used market, your local boot sale or e-bay :)

Just don't buy a HP Pavillion DV-5...even if it has bells on.
Zzzzz

whats wrong with the dv5's?

I was hoping to get something along the lines of:
2ghz processor with 2mb cache, atleast a 667mhz fsb
Atleast 2gig RAM and 160gb hdd
with a basic dedicated graphics card.
oh, and would really like hdmi output.

All for under £500

Yeah, i've looked at your suggestions, still nothing that particularly stands out.
Can't get anything decent on Novatech for under £500, unless you sacrifice the os of course, and laptops direct uk doesn't have anything decent either apart from the odd acer, but i'd rather gouge my eyes out with spoons than buy an acer.
