my question is this:

i have a chassis for ATX motherboards. can i put an SSI EEB motherboard in it?
i have __room__, it's a big chassis, but will i be able to attach it? are the
PCI slots, other socket outputs like serial ports and such in the same place?

this may not be the right place to ask this, where should i go instead?

thx.

If the motherboard is listed as ATX or micro-ATX, then it will fit in
your ATX chassis.

If you have room for a physical fit, the chassis is likely E-ATX - no?
AFAIK most SSI EEB mbrds will fit E-ATX. You also need to check the power
supply - an SSI mbrd would likely need a EPS12V spec P/S. Check at
http://www.power-on.com/ for different pin arrangements - EPS12V has the
same 24-pin arrangement as ATX12V V2.0 apart from the -5V pin which is not
present on the latter. For slots I've no idea - certainly some will line
up but it's possible not all?? I'd think for external ports, the mbrd
would come with a replaceable I/O panel - all ATX ones do.

You can get detailed info on SSI here http://www.ssiforum.org/default.aspx.

Bottom line: if that's an old ATX chassis with a 20-pin mbrd power
connector you'll have to replace the P/S.
