Where do I set my default web browser? I don't see it in Control Panel

Control Panel
Internet Options
Programs tab
tick box "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default
browser"

Thanks; I saw I could have IE perform that check, but I would like to be
able to indicate myself the specific program that I want to use for my
default browser. Isn't there a place I can do that?

(In that same Programs tab, I see you can specify your default for all
sorts of Internet Programs (Mail, etc) but not the browser.)

Thanks for any help.

How about Set Program Access and Defaults? In Win2000 it should be on the
Start menu, or go to Add/Remove Programs and it's in the left panel.

Yup, it's there. Thanks much. Though I wonder what the "Use my current
web browser" option means for setting the default. I know that Firefox
is my default browser, yet under "Choose a default browser", the radio
button "Use my current web browser" is selected, rather than "Mozilla
Firefox".

Hmm...I see that all the programs have a "Use my current xxxxx" option.
But if the program you're running currently automatically becomes the
default if this option is selected, then the word "default" loses its
meaning!

Any thoughts? Thanks very much.

Sorry for the slow response -- I've been out of town. It appears to me
that the "Use my current xxxxx" entries are there and checked to enable
you to explicitly make no change to some entries while you're changing
others. It would make more sense to have your current choice in each
category selected, but that may not always be possible. On my system, for
example, Sun Java is installed and selected as the default, but isn't
shown as a possible choice. The only way to retain that choice while
changing something else is "Use my current virtual machinr for Java."

"Default" in this context means the program that will be used to perform a
particular function such as displaying web pages when no program is
explicitly invoked.
