I have been looking for the version number of XP SP2 but cannot locate it.
Anyone know where it is? Thanks.

Thanks, David. I had found that information earlier and the info says
"rtm.040803-2158:service pack 2. My understanding the release was 2180 but
my computer is not showing that. Oh, well, I will find out later when MS
updates my computer.

Type winver

On any version of windows.

Actually, you won't. As far as I know, it was taken out by design. What
you show is what you should see if you have the RTM version of Service Pack
2.

No, it will say that in "winver" (though he only placed the release version)
with the date/time stamp there. This simply means *rtm* "released to
maunfacturers" on *040803-2158* which is August 3, 2004 @ 21:58 (military
time).

Thanks, guys. I guess I have the version that is out right now. Do they not
put a version number on SP2 that you can read somewhere on your computer?

Yes, for example, open Internet Explorer, and at the top, click "Help", then
"About Internet Explorer". You'll see next to "Version:" the number you want
"6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158". As you can see, it has 2180 within
that range, and this is true for other Windows programs you open, and choose
to see in their respective "Help" files.
