One of my users needs to uncheck the box that allows him to leave a copy of
messages on a server, but there are a couple of problems. 1) He is about
1000 miles away. 2) He is using Outlook 2002 with Exchange, I am using
Outlook 2000 as "Internet -email only". I am trying to help him uncheck the
box that is checked for "Leave a copy of messages on server", as he has
reached the quota on the Exchange server. Trying to walk him through the
menus via phone is frustrating to both of us, so can anyone help me out by
telling me what menu choices that option is under?

On Outlook 2000 it is under Tools -> Accounts -> Properties -> Advanced.
Since he is using Exchange, he apparently have the same menu choices I do.
Thanks in advance,

TomC

Exchange does not have an option to leave on the server if he's using MAPI
access. if he's using pop, it's in account configuration settings - tools,
e-mail accounts, select the exchange account, and change the configuration.

Using Exchange service, he can begin by emptying deleted folders and
archiving older messages - including journaled items. if he creates a view
to show only large items, he can move those to a pst - it might create
enough free space that he doesn't need to move anything else.

He can create a new PST using File, New, Outlook Data store and move
messages to the new data store to get below quota if he doesn't want to let
outlook autoarchive his mail. (I prefer doing it myself)
