Been using Windows and it's regedit feature for quite a while now, but
it just occured to me that I have no idea just where the "registry"
is. Can someone tell me just where this mysterious "registry" is
stored in Windows?[/QUOTE]

I believe it's a number of the files in this folder that make up the
information you see in regedit.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config

if you go to part one at the
above, the locations are
provided as part of the
routine to recover from
a corrupt hive.

a utility called pagedefrag
and avail at microsoft.com
is a tool you can add to your
system as an added benefit.

The WinXP registry can be found in C:\Windows\System32\Config\.
It'll be divided into several data files, such as Security, Software,
and System. The user-specific portion of the registry is stored in each
user profile, in a file named NTUser.dat.

Registry is not a single file - it is composed of two hidden system
"database" files - the names escape at this time.
