I have Windows XP with Office 2000 Pro. I can't find the PST that outlook
uses. I am displaying all folders and files but the pst used by my account
does not show up. Where is is stored and what is the name and extension. I
know it is there somewhere because my mail comes in and my contacts are
there.

Thanks

Mike

Doubt it.
Are you displaying hidden files?
If so, you would find it.

Reading that file? That's another question for this NG.

Only Outlook can read the file - why would you want to read it using
anything else?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Johann Bäcker

Personally? I don't. However when I double clicked that file I received
two options: "Use the Web Service . . . ." OR "Select the program . . . . "
NOTHING opens it.

Theoretically: Outlook SHOULD have opened it by default. It didn't. Oh
well; .dbx files are not opened by Outlook Express either. Why should I
have been surprised?

AND like OE: it is probably insanity to THINK that you can copy that file to
a CD or another partition then back to Outlook AND have it FUNCTION. .
properly--- if at all.

I do not know what MikeL's intentions are. He may want to edit that file or
he may want to save it and reinstall his OS.

FYI, copying a PST to another drive and opening it in Outlook works just
fine. If it doesn't you did so incorrectly.
