As Joep said, there are many places from which a program may start. The
most common is in the Startup folder. (Click Start | All Programs | Startup
to see the contents of this folder.)
WinME and WinXP include a program called msconfig.exe, but Win2K does not
have this. If you can find a copy of the WinXP version, it will run in
Win2K, with a couple of minor aggravations. This program will help you
identify programs and services and control how - and whether - they load at
startup.
