Where is the IMAP deleted folder?

Hi,

I have an IMAP email account and I use Outlook 2007 with Windows 7. When I
delete an email the email seems to dissapper and not go to the personal
folders deleted items folder.

Am I able to have the email I have deleted go to a deleted items folder
instead? I am concerned if I accidently delete an email then I will be unable
to retrieve it.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Kind Regards,

Kristy

That's because IMAP doesn't use a "deleted Items" folder. The way IMAP works
is to mirror the contents of the mailbox on the mail server - therefore if
you delete an email in Outlook it also has to be deleted on the mail server.
This is accomplished by the process of purging. (Edit-Purge)
I suspect the reason you don't see the emails marked for deletion (with a
strikethrough) is that Outlook is set to hide emails marked for deletion.
(View-Current View-Hide messages marked for deletion)

We won't be able to say this once Outlook 2010 is released. It will be
another opportunity for us to ask "What version of Outlook are you using?"

There's never any thought of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) is there? ;-)

Frankly, I like the new IMAP handling. It makes it behave like a POP account,
in that Sent Items works properly by default and Deleted Items gets used by
default. It still has its own folder set, of course.
