Hi friends,
I have saved my DUN password a few months back. Now i can use it to
connect to internet. Now one of my friend needs my account. But
unfortunately, I have forgot my password. But it is saved. Now how can
i retrieve it. Is it saved in window registry ?? If so is it encrypted
?? If it is encrypted, how can i read it... Please HELP me...

My OS is Win2k and Win98. I haved saved password on both. Please
help me in atleast any one.

Thanks

On Windows 2000, there is really now way to figure out the password for
security reasons. Cached security credentials, including passwords, are
stored and encrypted in the registry and protected by an access control list
(ACL). RAS uses Local Security Authority (LSA) Secrets to store the entries.
The default ACL values only allow administrators and the user associated
with the credentials to gain access to these registry entries.

Same goes for Windows 98, but on Windows 98 you can delete the *.pwl files
in the C:\windows dir and you can then reset it easily. Deleting that file
will cause you to enter in all new passwords.

You could use a program like Showin to view the password behind the
asterisks on your Win98 machine. Just Google for it. HTH.

Yes I have, but I was smart enough to add the word "password" to my
search:-).

Heh... well, I'm smarter than the average bear... (which, presumably, has an
IQ of, what, 7? Hmmm... lol)
