Where is previously opened document list in WORD XP

In previous versions of WORD when I clicked on FILE< OPEN DOCUMENTS...there
was a list of previously opened word documents.

Where is that list on WORD XP?
 
Are you perhaps thinking of the MRU list at the bottom of the File menu?

It has to be activated. Tools > Options > General (tab).

You can have from 0-9 documents in the list.

is GRAYED OUT !! !
