where is my blue glob?

I know that you all have answered this question 1000's of times, so I hope
you can help me out.
I had a website on the shared drive, it had a blue globe on the folder. Got
a new template which I saved on the shared drive, next to the original
website folder. I published the new template to the same address as the old
and it all looks great.
The new site functions. (www.westminsterrockford.org)But there is still no
blue globe on the website folder. When I look at the server, it appears all
the old files are still there so I keep deleting a few at a time. My concern
is that since there is no blue globe on the folder, I could accidentally
delete a file and the website would crash. Can you give me any advice as to
what to do? Thanks

Janet,
The "blue globe" that shows up on your FP machine indicates that the folder
is a FP created folder. If you create a website without using FP, it will
not have the globe. Website code can live in almost any windows folder. It
doesn't have to be FP specific.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Tom, my concern is that I don't have a "real" website folder, even tho
everything works fine. And I've been trying to figure out a way to get the
blue globe (the glob was a typo!) onto the folder. I'll just leave it alone
unless there's a reason you can think of to do it differently.

The folders are the same no matter how they were created, if your going for
a bit of continuity, first make sure you can see hidden files, then look in
the web folder that has the "blue globe" for a file called desktop.ini and
copy this file to the folder that does not have the "blue globe", that
should take care of it as long as you have the proper directory structure in
the folder (the folder icon for web folders is by default
"_vti_pvt/fpdbw.ico"

I used to think that this was all that was needed .

I see two types of blue globe.
1. That on My Webs, which is a large globe with a circle around it.
2. That on My Webs/myweb, which is a folder with a smaller globe inside it.

I have more than one local web. A second is My Webs/mvpweb. So I copied My
Webs/myweb/desktop.ini to My Webs/mvpweb/desktop.ini

The contents of desktop.ini are
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=_vti_pvt/fpdbw.ico
IconIndex=0
ConfirmFileOp=0
InfoTip=Stores your local web site

In both cases, _vti_pvt/fpdbw.ico exists, and is an icon of a folder with a
little blue globe.

But this icon does not appear on My Webs/mvpweb/

I have also opened and closed both web sites inside FP

I know that it is only cosmetic, so I gave up. Perhaps the OP has done the
same
