I just looked at your site regarding CHKDSK. A while back, I posted to find
out what the difference was doing it your way, {My computer>C disk, etc,}
which takes about 45 minutes, as opposed to Start>Run>Type in CHKDSK, which
takes about 2 minutes to run. An MS-MVP said they both did the same thing. I
found that hard to believe myself. What say you?

Where can I find *Check disk* ?
(I believe this is what XP calles *Scandisk*)

It's spelled "chkdsk." You can get to it by entering chkdsk at
the Start | Run line.

It is now hidden. To use it Go to:-
1. My Computer
2. Right click on your Hard Drive Icon
3. Properties
4. Tools
5. Error-checking

It works just like the old scandisk.

Re-read my post. I am asking what the difference is in using the other
option that is recomended by most MS-MVP's and only takes a couple of
minutes to run, instead of about 45 doing it your way.
Thanks.
Bruce

My Computer/Right click the Hard Drive/Properties/Tools/The Check Disk Tool
is at the top listed in this case as "Error-checking". Click "Check Now",
then the top box in the ensueing window.
