long time no talk anybody know?
Well may be snowed under from starting her own business??
Did see her post something a few days ago?

She hasn't posted for a couple of weeks, but as feckit says I guess she must have loads of work with her new business :D

Hopefully she'll pop back in soon though :)

Hello friends :)

I am sorry, you are quite correct - the business is mad, mad, mad and I am working crazy hours to try and get things on an even keel. Getting the work isn't the problem, it's keeping up with the demand when there's only 1 of you. I have taken on some PA support though and have found a really excellent woman local to myself so she's helping me with a whole bag of stuff. I also bough a digital recorder recently so that I can download soundfiles to my PA to type up - sounds very grand and I don't mean it too - just too much work for one little person although lovely to know that people are clammering for me to work for them.

Thank you all for thinking about me - don't ever worry, I am here and if people PM me I always reply :)

Love to you all

Gabs xx

Any volunteers to help me with my business? Any offers gladly accepted and any handy hints from those who have been there and done it - I am not yet 3 weeks into being self employed :)

One word of advice ... have an hour or two off, if you can't have a whole day ... helps recharge the batteries. And I don't mean a bed time.

;)

Fun though init ? ... :D

Thanks Mucks...you have hit the nail on the head - I am working from 6am as the phone doesn't ring till 9am - so quiet time and then working till late at night (with breaks obviously to cook/see to the kids etc....) but nevertheless very long hours but I am hoping it will settle soon.

Love

Gabs :)

Whoa ... 15 hour day, you'll burn yourself out Girl ...

Dr Mucks says ... slow down, you can't do it all, AND, there is NEVER enough hours in the day.

Mind you, did the same thing myself ... :D

What help do you need that can be done via email ... I'm not a quick typier but Word is good at correcting my spelling.

I give myself a "golden hour" each day when i do what i want to do, anything from having a kip, reading a book or chilling out to music. It really does work & gives you time to recharge youself. :D

Yep, I agree here love, if you don't give yourself some you time each day (& I don't mean looking after the kids) then you will burn out *hugs* & I know you're drowning under the workload & that's why it's so important that you schedule time for yourself! & unless it's a drastic emergency then keep that appointment same as you would any other.
'cos if you keep saying "I'll find time for it later" then you never will. You have to Make time.
I'm so glad that things are going so well for you & it is so good to hear from you, but don't forget to look after yourself. Worried about you love

Welcome to the land of the self-employed :)

Where the only person you can moan at is yourself.

And if you go sick, you not only lose income, but also a client.

Lottsa fun, ain't it? ;)

So, all you employees, stop whingeing, all those self-employed, realise it IS a better solution, though sometimes it don't seem like it ;)

Glad to hear your business is booming!!!! I envy your ability to worksuch hours.

Take a half hour nap during the day... always refreshing

Hi Gabs, sadly all my business experience is in forestry & rural land management, so unless you have changed your business and are running a large estate, farm or an open space i'm no good to you.

The one thing i did find running my own business was that joining the local groups like the round table, chamber of commerce or other local business groups come in handy, if you need help sometimes it's free!!!

Thanks for the lovely replies....

PSD the SF are coming on nicely - mxture of babies and biggies.

What help do I need - typing up very complex reports where only the best will do for Court I am afraid which is where the PA comes in. I have several to 'file' each month plus see clients and do loads of other stuff on each case. Plus pitch for new work which is a task in itself with credentials, CV and the like to go out with each enquiry plus a costing for the job. I have developed a pro forma for that type of work but the costing varies depending on where people live which can be very far away.

Murdoch, you are quite correct about Chamber of Commerce I have joined and they are very helpful indeed although I am not sure that I will get much business through them - my line of work isn't what everyone wants or needs to be honest - somethimes it is 'imposed' upon people that for whatever reason can't sort out their affairs.

I have taken to a nap most days which is something I have never done before but some days I am so tired I can't think straight.

Mind you, the early days are the most hectic and I am very pleased that I have laid my foundations and the business bits well (insurance, accountant etc....)

Cirianz - thanks for the hugs and good wishes - you are a star :)

Report writing today and arranging client appointments :)

Love

Gabriella x
