Astronauts on crack they are if its the case.

:)

"They" are not the dumb, whatever you call them, you are!!
When you re-install XP you have to re-install all of your software.

JAX

The saved games are put into C:\document and settings\all users\application
data\NFS Underground.
But depending on how you re-installed XP they could have been deleted.

Just "xp"anding on Neil's answer:

....and that's in keeping with the Microsoft's Standards for XP.
Blame yourself as YOU should have read your Help and Instructions files for
the prog.
You definitively lost all the "stop points".

Every decent game puts it save games in its game directory it it does

What did you save before you reinstalled windows? Did you burn stuff to disk
or anything? You might still have them.

When you reinstall Windows, make a list of the things you need, then find
and copy them to disk, CD or another PC. If you just reformatted the drive,
then you lose the lot. That's how it works, reformatting is very dangerous!

Thanks for the so called help.

We're not getting paid for this you know.

I backed up my desktop my favriouts and some other stuff, nothing much
else i need to backup as mostof my important stuff is installed on
other Partions, 4 in all c,d,e,f.

I do backup but the game was installed on my F Partion, i did a full
format and reinstall of Xp on my C drive.

Maybe the game just needs the reg entries to tell it where i saved the
files to ?? and when i formated it @*@&*@ them up ?

Would be nice if it created a SAVE game dir on the install directory
like any other game i can mention.

I HAVE not IDEA where the save games are ?, nothing i can see looks
like it.

So how do i back somthing up if i can't find it :)

Bye and thanks.

Once you have opened "all users" you need to make sure you are viewing
hidden files and folders, change the setting in tools>folder options. Then
you should see the folder "application data\nfs underground".
I assume you lost all you document files as well then.

Yep found that out elsewhere tanks anyway.

ITS THIER they hide it well, NOWHERE near where the game is installed,
DumbFucks.

Hi Original Poster;

I contacted both Microsoft and EA Games about that pure XP nonsense of
theirs.

They won't correct the mess following my stern directives, peremptory
abjurations and unveiled threats to retaliate by going back to Win.9X.

According to BOTH OF THEM, "THOU" and only "THOU", the very all-mighty
ORIGINATOR of this ongoing discussion could sway their dispositions and
switch over attitudes concerning your very private points-of-views.

Therefore I'll formally PLONK this c*rsed thread and terminate all attempts
to personally try and waver their resolve UNLESS THOU contact both of them.

First contacting, done by THOU, of ALL other "producers" of any and all
other applications will be from now of the foremost importance if THOU are
to experience ANY bug, problem, discrepancy, failure, BDOD(s).
That is for: "Anything that clearly does NOT meet with your standards at any
level whatsoever, ETC".

I've done what I could and more.
Do your d@rn bit.

Actually, "Documents & Settings/username/Application Data" is the correct
place to put these things nowadays. Windows XP is designed to be multiuser,
so your game saves are tied to your user account. Means that others can use
the game on the PC without messing up your saves. It is also used to keep
your Temp Internet Files private from other users.

Beats putting them in "My Documents". I hate it when games clutter up that
area, especially as mine is on another machines network share!!

Next time you do a reinstall (about every 18 months it's required on
Windows!! ;-), make a backup of the entire Documents & Settings/username
directory. Make sure you have "hidden" and "system" files turned on. Best
way is to make a zip file of the lot and burn to CD, then you always have it
if you need to take a look back.

Or, if you are feeling brave, move your folder onto one of your other
drives, then it's not a problem when you upgrade/reinstall. You can't just
move it in explorer though, you'd need to google for the process to move a
user folder. I don't know how myself.

Or, as another idea, you could swap the drives around so that a different
one becomes the C: drive. Then you keep everything until you are happy that
your new install is 100% cool.

Fraser.
