Where does win xp hold downloaded movie files?

In win 98 , when I played played a movie clip on the
internet it downloaded to a temp folder located in the
windows folder. The file name was changed, but it was
still kept the same file extension. (wmv, mpg, avi, etc.)

I use movie trailers in some of my computer classes. I
thought that if a movie file was played from the internet
it was at least temporarily downloaded to my hardrive.
Is this not the case? I believe I've looked everywhere
in the documents and settings folder, but I may have
missed somewhere. Thanks in advance for any help.

<your windows drive>\temp

is a likely place. Be sure that you do not have the "Empty temporary files
when Explorer is closed" option on, otherwise it won't be there.

Be careful of using material from the net, copyright issues and all that.

Perry,

Have you looked in C:/Documents and Settings/"Your
Username"/Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files?

Hope this helps,
Milt

When you find a movie you want, instead of streaming it to
your WMP, use right click, "save target as" and direct it to
a folder you create.

I have a folder named "TEMP" on my C drive where I have everything
and I mean everything sent from anywhere. I NEVER lose a file and
never have to search. One click and I am there, forget the Windows
diectory .temp file. :-)

Sometimes, depending on the movie viewer you're using, you may not be
allowed to save to disk, and the file may be deleted as soon as you exit the
viewer. The trick is to find the file before closing the viewer and copy it
to another location.
