Hi folks,

Me and the wife are looking to get a printer. I think that the inkjets are
probably the best for us. I've had a lexmark, cannon and a HP in the past at
my folks house, however, they've all died after a few years.

Basically I'm looking for the following:

- half decent print speed.. not too picky
- I'd like to be able to print out photos when I get my digi cam.
- My wife is a teacher and will be printing out black ink pages quite a bit
so I want something that has a separate black cartridge rather then a
combo... if possible.
- don't want a ink hog.. if possible =0)
- looking for something around 200bux cdn

I've looked at the cannon "i" series and these seem to be quite popular at
the local shops..

please let me know what you guys think and let me know of printers/companies
to stay away from.

thanks in advance!

Eric

Sorry to hear about your folks, I would get those printers checked out for
dangerous emissions.......

I just replaced my Epson 785 which died a couple of days ago with the
Canon i9100. What a machine, very fast, appears more accurate in
color compared to my monitor than the epson even with epson paper. If
this large format machine is too pricey, one of its smaller brothers
should do nicely. Speed wasn't that important to me but it's nice to
have a fast printer.

Get a Canon i560 or 860, and a laser for the wife.

I've been trying to figure out if that one can handle seamless banner style
(tabloid style) printing? If so, up to what sizes? There seems to be some
confusions here as to whether or not it can actually print a 13"x 30"
panorama photo on an XP platform. We know that the older version S9000
will, but it's iffy and vague at this desk, as to whether or not this newer
one still has that ability. Any chance you know?

While the S9000 is quite good, and pretty darned reasonable these days, I'd
still prefer the i9100, if only that particular issue were just a bit
clearer.
