I posted this on 30/10/03 ~5:50pm
Where did it and its responses disappear to?
This seems to be a common problem but none of the
suggested work arounds seem to work for me.
Running W2K Pro (all latest SP's on) and IE6 (with all
latest SP's).
Recently had to install a new modem and within 2 days
everything went blah!
Using dial up (no broadband here yet!) I can connect to
three different ISPs but cannot use IE6 at all -
everything I try gets "Page cannot be found".
I cannot connect to my e-mail accounts also - running
diagnostics within Outlook tells me there is a problem
with DNS resolution "DNS client service could not
contact any DNS servers".
Strange thing is I can PING sites by IP address but not
by domain name.
Once connected it looks as if I do get a properly
allocated IP address.
Tried all the old tricks /flushdns etc. but to no avail.
Did have a Modem boost software on board but have
cleared it all out now.
Any help much appreciated - starting to tear what's left
of my hair out now.
