Where did my inquiries go?

Yesterday (1/2/04) I made two attempts to post a further inquiry to a question I had about the Word File command listing New Works Template over and over again (Problem under file heading). The first time, I selected "Reply" while still on the same page as the last response (#5). When that didn't show up after a half hour, I tried using "New." No luck there either. After each attempt I got a screen telling me that my message had been posted and that it should appear after a wait of at least 5 minutes. Now, approximately twelve hours later, I still do not see anything under my original post, nor do I see an entry in the new messages. What am I doing wrong? I'm hesitant to rewrite my inquiry for a third time until I see if this message goes through, but the capsule version is that I was successful in removing the Works Suite Add-In but not in removing the extra New Works Template listings.

Thanks,
Miranda F.

Using OE6, you select Reply Group not reply to respond to messages. reply
sends the message to the originator, many of whom use false addresses to
counteract the address miners.

I recall your earlier posts in this group - see

Graham, Miranda is posting from the Web portal (Microsoft Communities),
where Reply is the button for responding to a post. I am seeing four replies
to your initial message, Miranda, including this one of mine:

As Greg and Graham have suggested, the problem is caused by the Microsoft
Works Suite Add-in for Word. If you are using Word freestanding (not
starting it from the Works Task Launcher [which one would hope would cause
Word to be better behaved]), then you can safely uninstall this add-in. Go
to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, find the add-in, and click on
Remove. This will *not* uninstall Works or Word, just the add-in that
connects them. You will not lose any functionality in Word except the
ability to use a Works address book or database as a mail merge data source,
plus access to the special Works templates for Word documents. What you will
lose is the add-in's nasty habits, which include:

* Overpopulating menus (in addition to the problem you're seeing, users
report a proliferation of Clip Collection and Mail Merge entries)

* Clearing the Clipboard when you start Word

* Prompting you to save Normal.dot every time you close Word (and, we
suspect, sometimes saving a document in or as Normal.dot)

After you've uninstalled the add-in, open Tools | Customize and drag all the
excess items off the menu(s).
