Where did my folder go?

In Windows Explorer I clicked on a folder to drag it into another. I think
my finger might have slipped and I might have accidentally clicked twice,
I'm not sure. But I can't figure out where the folder got to. It's not in
the folder I wanted to move it to. And it's not in the Recycle Bin. The
stuff int he folder was not exactly critical stuff, but I certainlyl do move
critical stuff around and would hate to lose anything. Any ideas where I
might find the stuff I tried to move?

Click on Start, Search, All Files and Folders
Enter the name of the folder you are looking for in the 'All or part of the
file name' box.
Click on the Search button and sit back and wait. If its a common folder
name you may get several hits.

You probably "dragged and dropped" into another folder on the same drive.
This causes a file/folder MOVE not a delete or copy. If you drag and drop
between drives it copies the files/folders.

Open each folder to see if the original folder can be found. An alternative
is to search for a known filename and then the results will give you the
full path to the file and folders.

To be safe and prevent this from happening in the future highlight the files
or folder/s you want to move and then RIGHT click on a highlighted are and
drag while holding the right mouse button down. When you get to your
desired location, let go of the right mouse button and you will get a menu
for Copy, Move or Cancel. If you are not in the correct location (finger
slipped off the mouse) simply selecting cancel will put you back to the
highlighted items and you can re-drag them where you want them.
