Where did it GO?-Please help!

I downloaded the WU for Media Playter, and I noticed that
when I turned my PC back on, the messenger icon on my
systems tray and is no longer there! I went to ALL
PROGRAMS - WINDOWS MESENGER and the hour glass appears
and then goes away. . .what happened? How do I get it
back?
