I am in the process of writting a book on Windows XP and was covering
Bootvis. I went to the website today and it says that it is not longer
availible for download from the site. Anyone hear anything about it? or
where it can be downloaded?

Thanks!

One aspect to be aware of is that it is something to use initially,
immediately after installing the system (or after major changes like
installing SP1). Once the system is running, the Prefetch optimisation
starts to take effect, which does a more comprehensive optimisation,
aimed at faster load of commonly used programs as well as boot. That
may well change the layout Bootvis has produced - and you should not run
that again as an item of regular maintenance. This may be why Microsoft
no longer have it for general download

Bootvis is a great tool to determine what is loaded during your boot and how
long it is taking. Finding slow device drivers as well as what start up
programs are slowing your system down are the main reason why anyone should
use bootvis. There is no other tool that will allow you to do that.
Perhaps, I am

People have come to believe that bootvis will optimize your boot speed but
it really is just a diagnostic tool.
