I am trying my hand at building a new computer, and need the following:

3 gigahertz processor
serial ATA hard drive
1 gig ram
ATI 9800 pro
ASUS motherboard

I may have already found a good deal on the 9800 pro, but for the other
stuff I have no idea where to look. I am trying to keep the budget under
$700-$900 (don't laugh too hard) so I'm looking for the best prices
possible. I'm also doing all my shopping online. Can anyone suggest where
to find parts?

A quick look here:

MB14-BA19690-BA03108-BA19405
PENTIUM 4 - 800Mhz (RETAILED) BUNDLES
(ASUS P4G800-V-MB; PENTIUM 4 3.0G; KINGSTON 1GB DDR400(512MB X 2); NO TESTING) $531.57

MAXTOR 160.0GB L01M160 SATA-150 7200RPM 8MB (Retail) (NO DATA CABLE; NO POWER CORD) $156.95

Sub Total $688.52

www.mwave.com

This is excellent. The 9800 pro deal fell through, would mwave.com be a
good site for that as well?

For the best price, you could always check PriceGrabber and Pricewatch.
However, be careful of the shipping and handling charges! This is an area
where they boost the price back up to something quite a bit more expensive.
Personally, I do the vast majority of my shopping at www.zipzoomfly.com.
Also, another good site is www.newegg.com. Both offer free shipping and
great prices. I've had better experiences with ZipZoomFly, though. Others
rave about NewEgg.

You can search http://PriceWatch.com and get jacked around at every turn or
just pay a few dollars more at Newegg.com and get the parts in two days
later.

Yeppers, after getting burned several times through Price "bait 'n switch" Watch, I only shop
at Newegg anymore. They aren't perfect, but they are the best out there right now.
