My pc's os is windows 98 se

I need dos 5 and upward
so I can exercise with it
in reference to a book
I have which is about dos 6.
Where, if any, can I download

I'd rather say it is DOS 7.1

Why? The commands of DOS 5 are mostly the same in later versions, except
perhaps for "format x: /u"

There was never an "upward". DOS 5.0 was all that was there (and it was
perfect)

But you can try Freedos: www.freedos.org

Microsoft DOS (Disk Operating System) is a command line user interface.
MS-DOS 1.0 was released in 1981 for IBM computers and the latest version
of MS-DOS is MS-DOS 6.22, which was released in 1994.

MS-Dos is not freeware.

You must mean EXPLORER 5 and up.

Just update it online.

lol, I hope not or I'd've sent the OP to http://browsers.evolt.org

Hey, cool site! Full of nostalgia. :)

The OP said a couple of things that let me to believe he got DOS and IE
mixed up. Win98 SE had DOS 7.X, and he also used the word "embedded",
reminding me of IE's intertwining with the OS.

You've already got it!
DOS 5+is the underlying" OS" for 98SE
I think it's DOS 7
Check this
http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/doscomm7.htm
DOS for 98se is backwards compatible
