I am having problems removing an application. I think the
most likely problem is the Microsoft Installer is
corrupted. When I try to remove that application or re-
install it, it is failing at one particular Memory
location.

Can anyone help me as to where I can find the MS Installer
for XP Home edition?

Also, if you have any other suggestion as to why I cannot
remove that application or reinstall please let me know.

Also, whenever I click on Windows Explorer, the system
tries to install the application and comes up with problem
with the same memory location.

I tried using the Add/Remove programs from Control Panel.

Thanks in advance.

Windows XP includes the most recent Windows Installer. It is not available
as a separate download for this Windows version. If these files do not fall
under Windows File Protection's watchful eye, the command sfc /scannow can
be used in a Command Prompt window. It will check for files that have been
changed or corrupted since Windows was installed. It will prompt you for
the Windows CD and/or the source for the service pack files if it finds any
files that need to be replaced.

Before you do that though... It's highly unusual for the launching of
Explorer to initiate the installation of another program. More details
about the program name and the exact text of the error message might be
helpful in gaining further assistance.
