The subject is a joke...

Vista is not out of beta yet, and it already needs improvments! lol

Oh I can hear the moaning of the hundreds of thousands of people complaining
about vista...

WindowsME = Bloated unstable bad version of win98
Vista = Bloated unstable bad version of winXP

Betas ALWAYS need improvement. If they didn't they would be RTM releases.

What are you on about? Do you know what a "Beta" product is? The whole
point of a beta of Vista is that it is unfinished, that's why it's a beta.
So obviously there will be no service packs for it!

Vista is so bad that it needs service packs even before its released.

In other words vista has BASIC problems, that they will not change because
they dont have the time now to rethink them out even if they get the
feedback.

Do you get my drift?

I recently had a chance to play with Vista 5365 on a friend of mine that is
a connect beta tester. I would totally disagree with you. The software has
come a long way and I think alot of users that are currently using 5308 will
be plesantly supprised. Granted it still has some more work to be done, but
it isn't even in beta 2 stage yet.

Applied but still waiting to be accepted for the Vista Beta Testing group.
Can't wait to be able to play and help make it even better.

Curious here... What kind of issues are being found in 5365? Is there a list
of known issues for tat particular build?

Kind of, it was available with the download itself.

And Jason is correct, there have been some vast improvements in 5365,
I'm running Vista x64 on my laptop and it's almost (still not quite)
running as well as my XP install in terms of speed. There are still one
or two little things on it, but it's definitely a massive improvement.

Great.... I only tested 308.... but no one said that the latest had any
super improvments...

Yeah, but MS treats RTM releases as if they are still in beta. Around
here we won't touch any new MS stuff until it has had at least one
service pack relesed for it.

There may not even be a service pack. Remember, that Service Packs only
exist because they are to patch security and flaws in the operating system.
Because of all the added security in Vista as it is, there may not be need
for one as such.

OK there will end up being one, I'm just saying that if they built Vista
100% foolproof, they'd need no service pack. But Service Pack 1 is expected
(if needed) late 2007, early 2008.

Wow.. AOL!!1! Perhaps you should look up what beta means. "Beta"
means "unless you don't care that it's going to be buggy and highly subject
to change, Do Not Run This(tm)".

Top posting considered harmful.

I'm not normally one to defend Windows, but "beta" means they're probably
going to change it radically before it ships. They have to: That's why
beta periods exist. If you're still not perfectly clear what "beta" means,
this page spells it out better: http://ursine.ca/Beta

That's a good one <lol>
Given the complexity of the Vista code, it's a sure bet that there *are*
overlooked vulnerabilities and/or instabilities that will require correction
as they are discovered, even if you discount the belated addition of WinFS
(which, IMO, is the only *real* reason to switch from Win2k or XP).

If u don't like vista ... don't use it ;)

People complain about it a lot ... they should not be using it then ... so
they would not have to complaint

sorry, I just cant understand how the best programmers in the world, and a
company
that has limitless resources can make bad choices and put them in a beta,
they whenever they are critisized they cry out "its still beta"

Beta does not mean you are stupid when making it.

Bugs are natural to exist, and those I can forgive...
but plain stupidity I cannot!

FYI, programmers, especially in an organization as large as Microsoft, don't
make the sort of choices you're referring to. They implement the choices
made by others, and by the time those choices (specs) come down to them,
it's not their place to determine what's a good decision and what's not.

Try to earn a living as a developer for a few years before you criticize
those in the trade.

You're simply ignorant!
Because Vista has a new architecture, a new kernel, a new memory manager, a
new process scheduler, new data and kernel algorithms, I/O improvemens,
almost of the drivers and components run in user mode and not in kernel mode,
every user run as standard account and not as admin, etc. etc. etc.

I totaly agree with you Franz. I think we may have anouther Kevin on our
hands. I say that if you don't like what you see, then don't beta test it.
I have to give props to MS for rebuilding and making a good beta client in
5365. I can't wait for beta 2. I will most likely make it my main OS at
that point.
